Terms of Service
Last updated October 11, 2026
By using Journey to the West you agree to these terms. Journey to the West is operated by Technologies InstantHPI Inc. They are kept short and in plain language.
The free service
Journey to the West is free to use. Every verse of 西遊記, the writing guide, the word-by-word glosses, the day-by-day journey and the Museum are available to everyone with no account.
Saving your progress
Your finished verses, streak and settings are saved in this browser. Handwriting is temporary and is not restored when you return to a verse. Clearing this site's browser data removes that saved progress. There is no paid tier.
Optional donations
Optional support is paid in US dollars (USD) and received by Technologies InstantHPI Inc: 5 USD a month, which continues until you cancel it, or a one-time gift of an amount you choose that does not repeat (5 USD suggested, 0.50 USD minimum). The payment is completed on a Stripe-hosted page, so the card details are handled by Stripe and never by this app, and a monthly gift can be cancelled at any time through the Stripe billing page. Giving unlocks nothing: Journey to the West stays free for everyone, and no charitable tax receipt is issued.
This edition takes no payment. There is no donation link and no purchase in the app, so there is nothing to buy, no subscription to start and no payment details to enter: Journey to the West is free for everyone, and nothing you do in it is charged by Technologies InstantHPI Inc.
The service is provided as-is
Journey to the West is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep it available and accurate, but it cannot be guaranteed to be error-free or uninterrupted.
